Position: Store Manager

Time at Space Station: 2 years

In 2020, I decided to have a change in my career and move out of the custodial sector and into Self Storage. After being trained by Space Station, I took up the role of Relief Assistant Manager in our Thames Valley region. Within 6 months, an opportunity arose to become an Assistant Manager in our Slough store with the help of the ‘Launchpad’ programme: a four-step training plan to support employees’ progression.

‘Launchpad’ taught me everything I needed to know about the Assistant Manager role. From meeting with a Store Manager to discuss the realities of the role, to finding and working on my weak spots with a mentor, the process gave me the confidence I needed to apply for a Store Manager role when one came up immediately after I completed the programme – and I got the job!

During the programme, I felt completely supported by the whole Space Station management team. Their assistance and training gave me huge confidence in my abilities, making my day-to-day job that bit more fun and manageable. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve been able to achieve within the team here!
